Making Time for You: A Simple Wellness Ritual for Caregivers
When you’re caring for someone else, taking care of yourself can start to feel like one more thing on an already impossible list.
You know you should eat well. Drink enough water. Get enough sleep. Move your body. Take your vitamins. Find ways to manage stress.
But caregivers don’t always have the luxury of building their days around elaborate wellness routines.
Sometimes you need something simple.
That’s one of the reasons I wanted to share Make Time for Brain, Body & Beauty, a daily wellness drink I’ve incorporated into my own routine.
Why Make Time Caught My Attention
There’s something about the name Make Time that feels particularly appropriate for caregivers.
We make time for appointments.
We make time for medications.
We make time for meals, errands, phone calls, paperwork, family members, doctors, insurance companies, and the dozens of little things nobody else even realizes we’re doing.
But making time for ourselves?
That can be harder.
Make Time Wellness was co-founded by Emma Heming Willis and Helen Christoni with a focus on women’s brain health and making everyday wellness easier to fit into real life.
Their Brain, Body & Beauty powder is designed as an all-in-one daily drink that combines a women’s multivitamin with ingredients including Cognizin® Citicoline, curcumin, MCT oil, Acetyl-L-Carnitine, and biotin.
You simply mix one scoop with water. It can also be added to a smoothie or mixed with more water if you prefer a lighter flavor.
For me, the simplicity was part of the appeal.
My Experience
I’ll admit, when I first heard about Make Time, I wasn’t looking for another supplement to add to my life.
I already knew all the things I was supposed to be doing for myself. Eat better. Drink more water. Get enough sleep. Take vitamins. Exercise. Manage stress.
But knowing what you should do and actually making room for it in your day are two very different things.
What caught my attention about Make Time was how simple it was. One scoop, some water, and I could move on with my day.
So I decided to try it.
I started making it part of my morning routine, and what surprised me most wasn’t some dramatic overnight transformation. It was how much I enjoyed having one small thing each day that was specifically for me.
I began looking forward to it.
Instead of grabbing something and immediately moving on to everything that needed my attention, mixing my drink became a tiny pause in my morning. A reminder that taking care of myself didn’t have to be complicated or require an hour I didn’t have.
And over time, I noticed I had more energy; my hair and nails were stronger; and I had less afternoon brain fog.
That’s ultimately why I wanted to share Make Time with The Caregiving Corner community.
Caregivers hear “take care of yourself” all the time. But sometimes that advice feels almost laughable when you’re already trying to keep up with everything and everyone.
Self-care doesn’t always have to be a spa day, a weekend away, or another elaborate routine.
Sometimes it’s standing in your kitchen, mixing something into a glass of water, and remembering:
I’m someone worth taking care of, too.
